A Year In Review

Merry Christmas, friends!

It’s been a whirlwind year for us, nestled in the Middle East with wars to the North, to the South East, massive earthquakes, an overwhelming need for counseling, and a limited staff. We’ve also faced many of our own instabilities with internal government and visa issues. We certainly have felt the weight of the world in some fresh ways this year. And while there is more that we’ll share in the coming weeks about that, we wanted to just reflect on some of the ways we served – both in our community and to cross-cultural workers who are in the trenches in incredibly difficult areas.

In 2023 we were able to:

  • Provide pastoral and clinical counseling for 180+ cross-cultural workers serving in dozens countries around the world (Nick in particular has had a full client load and helped many struggling marriages and people who have lived through traumatic events.)
  • Give disaster relief training and trauma training to workers and locals after a massive earthquake in February, present a Christian mindfulness webinar and coordinate many other webinars / trainings by our team
  • Provide monthly mental health exercises, articles and Lenten and Advent series and more for member care providers and former clients via our e-newsletter
  • Work to also create extensive referral lists to other centers or private counseling practices for those clients we aren’t able to see and network better with other providers
  • Help with intake periodically (communicating with clients about their needs to match them with the right counselor, scheduling, etc.)
  • Continue helping visiting counselors and interns integrate while coming for short term stints
  • Begin helping local believers with their church ministry through a website and fundraising support
  • Serve on our international church’s worship team (Nick), both on Sundays and at a special inter-church worship event

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to do this work and see the tangible impact it’s having in many lives. Thank you for helping us serve cross-cultural workers in the Middle East and beyond!
